Detailed below are some of the most commonly asked questions. However should you have any question which is not answered below or indeed you wish to clarify certain areas of the afforded cover further please do not hesitate to contact our office and we will be more than happy to assist.
Q: What about accidents that may not be scuaba diving related, are these covered?
A: YES, this policy is a full travel insurance policy that has been enhanced with regards to Sport Diving activity. Hence other accidents will also be covered subject to the usual policy terms and conditions.
Q: What is the depth limit to which I may dive, and remain covered?
A: There is no set depth limit on our policy, other than you must at the time of an accident be diving in accordance with your qualifications for Sport Diving, and within the standard safety recommendations of your Diving Association.
Q: Is Air Ambulance covered under the terms of this policy?
A: YES, This is an important part of the cover, as some insurers may not grant such cover. This policy does include such cover.
Q: Is decompression treatment covered?
A: YES, we cover medical costs up to 5 million pounds sterling.
Q: What if I am injured or ill whilst away on holiday, and as such can't dive. Is there any cover for such a situation?
A: Yes, we provide cover at £20.00 per day up to a total of £200.00, In order to cover fees for pre booked dives, that you are unable to take part in, and which you may still have to pay for.
Q: Is my dive kit covered?
A: YES, we cover this within the Personal Baggage section of £2,000.00 which includes diving equipment with a single item limit of £300.00.
Q: What happens if my dive kit is lost or stolen whilst with the Airline. Would I be covered for such a loss?
A: YES, so long as such loss is reported to the local authority and the airline at the time, the policy will cover you for such a loss, and also grant an additional sum of £25.00 per day for the hire cost of alternative equipment to a total of £150.00.
Q: Are business trips covered by this policy?
A: This can be arranged on request for an additional premium of 30% for Europe and the Red Sea or 50% additional for Worldwide (note. Single trip travel is free), albeit the policy will exclude any liability connected to the business activity.
Q: On the Annual Multi-trip policy, Can I or my partner travel independently of each other?
A: YES, however if you have selected the family policy the children must be accompanied by an adult insured under this policy
Q: What is the claim Excess under the terms of the policy?
A: Some sections carry no excess, and some carry a £50.00 excess.
Q: What happens if I have a serious accident in the middle of the night?
A: When the policy is taken out we provide you with the Medical Emergency telephone number which is provided by (CEGA Emergency Services. This service is available 24 hours a day 365 days of the year, so help is only a phone call away.
Q: Will this policy cover me for my pre-existing medical condition?
A: As Travel Insurance is designed to cover sudden and un-foreseen instances that may un-expectedly crop up whilst you are on holiday, the Underwriters/Insurers are of course going to be concerned about peoples current ailments.
Therefore, they address this issue within the Certificate of Insurance under General Exclusion 4 on page 7, which reads as follows:
4. The Underwriters shall not be liable to pay any claims or expenses arising directly or indirectly from any medical condition of the Insured Person for which medical advice, treatment, care or monitoring has been given by a Medical Practitioner or hospital during the 12 months prior to:-
(i) In respect of Single Trip Travel Insurance:
Booking the trip or the Date of Issue of this Certificate, whichever is the later.
(ii) In respect of Multi Trip Travel Insurance:
The commencement of the Period of Insurance or the date of booking any trip covered by this Certificate, whichever is the later.
This exclusion shall not apply to any condition for which the Insured Person takes regular continuing medication provided that there has been no change in the type, frequency or quantity of drugs within the last 12 months. However no claims or expenses relating to such condition will be admitted hereunder in the event of the Insured Person’s failure to take such drugs in accordance with the medical advice given.
